When we looked at modern mobile games, we noticed something troubling: they pull our attention downward into glowing glass screens instead of upward into the architectural wonders, historic alleyways, and vibrant neighborhoods around us.
And when we looked at typical tourist audio guides or corporate scavenger hunt apps, they felt rigid, clunky, and like homework assignments.
We built Togra to combine the immersive exploration of open-world adventure games + the shared laughter of a pub trivia night + the post-walk satisfaction of a Strava trail recording.
Whether you are taking a weekend coffee stroll through your hometown, introducing out-of-town guests to your favorite district, or celebrating a birthday, Togra turns any neighborhood into an interactive playground.
2. Eyes-Up Walking with Pocket Mode
Walking in a city should be safe, natural, and immersive. You shouldn't have to keep your eyes glued to a navigation map at every crosswalk.
Togra features a dedicated Haptic Pocket Mode: slip your phone into your pocket, and gentle rhythmic haptic pulses guide you as you walk. Pulses quicken and intensify as you close the distance to your mystery landmark, letting you take in the street life around you with eyes up.
On-Site & Armchair Modes
Walk the real streets for physical proximity unlocks, or play in Armchair Mode from anywhere using clever riddle solving and historical trivia.
Battery & Offline Optimized
Tapping Start downloads the full hunt bundle and offline vector map tiles. Play runs seamlessly even in subway tunnels or airplane mode, using minimal battery.
3. Built for Groups, Friends & Parties
Scavenger hunts are best when shared. With Togra Parties, anyone can host a multiplayer game in under 60 seconds with a simple 8-character join code or direct link.
Teammates solve clues on their own devices, track live progress along the clue path, and meet at the final secret destination to celebrate. It’s perfect for birthday surprises, romantic anniversaries, bachelor/bachelorette outings, or team offsites.
4. Anyone Can Be a Creator
We believe the most memorable hunts are crafted by the locals who know every secret courtyard, hidden mural, and quirky historical plaque.
There are no gatekeepers or paid tiers to author hunts on Togra. Open the app to draft a 4-to-6 stop trail in minutes. Choose between:
- Draft with AI: Select a city and creative theme, and our smart routing assistant finds verified locations and drafts witty, tailored riddles.
- Start Blank: Handpick your favorite spots, pin exact coordinates, and write custom clues, hints, and custom final reveals.
5. The Privacy Invariant: Location Stays on Your Device
Most location-based apps monetize where you walk, selling location traces to data brokers. We made an unbreakable architectural commitment from day one: your GPS location never leaves your phone.

- Zero Coordinate Uploads: Proximity checks, bearing math, and geocell unlocking run 100% locally on your phone's processor. No GPS fix is ever transmitted to our servers.
- Anonymous Play by Default: You can download, explore, and complete any public hunt without creating an account or providing an email address.
- No Ad Trackers: No advertising SDKs, no behavioral profiling, and Mapbox background telemetry is explicitly turned off.
- Pseudonymous Leaderboards: If you choose to post a competitive time, it uses an ephemeral random alias (like
amber-lynx) with times rounded to the hour.
